Ingredients

  • Sushi rice
  • Nori sheets
  • Fresh vegetables (cucumber, carrots)
  • Fish or seafood (salmon, shrimp)
  • Rice vinegar
  • Soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Rinse 2 cups of sushi rice under cold water until clear. Cook according to package instructions.
  2. Once cooked, season with 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt while still warm. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Prepare fillings by slicing vegetables and fish into thin strips.
  4. Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, shiny side down. Wet your hands and spread an even layer of rice over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top.
  5. Place fillings horizontally across the middle of the rice-covered nori. Roll gently from the bottom using the mat to guide you.
  6. Slice into bite-sized pieces with a sharp knife dipped in water and serve with soy sauce.
